ZAMFARA ZAKAT BOARD DISTRIBUTE N345 MILLION

The Executive Governor Zamfara State, Emir of B/Magaji, Chairman Zakat Board and the Executive Secretary at B/Magaji for the distribution of N345 million as Endowment to the poor and the needy.

The sum of 1.33 Billion Rs has been approved for Distribution in Lahore, Pakistan. The Provincial Zakat Council (PZC) has accorded approval to release an amount of over Rs 1.33 billion for the district Zakat committees, hospitals and religious seminaries at provincial level as second monthly instalment for the year 2013-14. This was decided at a meeting presided over by Chairman Provincial Zakat Council Justice Akhtar Hassan (Retd) in Lahore.

The breakdown is as follows: Rs 336.1 million as subsistence allowance for Zakat deserving persons, Rs 100.8 million as educational scholarships (general), Rs 44.8 million as educational scholarships (religious seminaries), Rs 33.6 million for health institutions at district level, Rs 44.8 million as marriage grant, Rs 451.2 million as educational scholarships (technical), Rs 60 million as subsistence allowance for deserving blind persons, Rs 141.9 million for the salaries of Zakat paid staff and Rs 123 million for district Zakat committees, hospitals and health institutions at provincial level according to Business Recorder.

PZC has also given approval to the release of Rs 54.8 million to district Zakat committees of 24 districts for deserving students of 258 religious seminaries and Rs 986,000 for 71,714 deserving students studying in 1,275 educational institutions of 28 districts of the province for the year 2013-14. Kuwait Zakat House announced that the Orphan Project sponsors some 100,000 orphans in 32 countries through 83 official institutions as reported by KUNA News online.

Director of the Department of Orphans and Students in the Zakat House Waheed Al-Busairi said in a statement that this project aims to provide social, educational and health welfare for orphan children who have lost their breadwinner.

Al-Busairi added that the orphans would be cared for in his or her educational career till he or she reaches the legal age which qualifies him or her to work independently.
